Snow

Southern California, especially Orange County is known for having some of the best and most consistent weather in the world. I can’t even remember checking the weather. That all changed when moving to Big Bear. Around Thanksgiving 2019 there was one of the biggest snow storms ever at over 4 foot! As long as you don’t have anywhere to go it’s a truly magical experience.

I remember walking through the neighborhood with the 4’ of snow. Someone asked “Are you just visiting or do you live here?” - I live here. “You’re fortunate” - it was the first time I realized how cool living up here really was and also how desirable a place it is.

Don’t get me wrong - the snow can present some challenges and you’ll get sick of digging out the drive way. Pro tip - shovel it while it’s still soft and the snow plows don’t push it into piles. It’s literally the different between a couple mins and hours! Also for renters or people visiting during a storm - anticipate that you may not be able to leave for a day or two while they clear the roads. That’s usually only for extreme storms, most of the time the road it cleared a few hours after it snows and it’s not too big of a problem. But for noobs ( like we were at first) - it can be a very big problem!
