Project Alcove

Guide and Instructions for the various controls and features.

This section will be the instruction manual for the various features and devices in the Cabin. Tablets to control even more settings are coming soon. You will receive a customized instructional video before or right after you check-in. Any questions or difficulties don’t hesitate to ask!

Home Theater

The theater features an 85” 8k TV paired with a 13ch surround sound system. Combined with a super comfortable and modular Lovesac couch - you’re in for one of the best media experiences you can get at home! There is an X-box Series X to game on or watch 4k Blu-ray. Additional Xboxes are in the other rooms to enable local multiplayer gaming. A 75” 4k TV is used to view the security camera system or to be able to play side by side. The configuration can be customized before you check-in.

  • The tv’s controller is thin and black. This will turn the Tv on and let you select different media apps. It does not control the volume. It’s better to use the Chromecast remote unless you want to test out true 8k Content which you can find by searching “8K videos” on youtube. It will only show 8k via this controller and it’s dedicated youtube app. For all other content use the chromecast remote. Press CBL on the audio remote to change it.

  • To cast to the tv use “8k Tv” the Chromecast remote will let you select various media apps like Hulu, Netflix etc.

Press MEDIA PLAYER on the Denon Audio remote to change it to this device.

  • This remote has a lot of buttons but you will only need to use a couple of them.

To change and test out different sound options like Atmos/ Dolby Surround/ Stereo etc there are buttons on the bottom that say “Movie, Game, Music, Pure” Pressing these will cycle through the available audio formats.

    CBL = Chromecast

    TV Audio = Xbox

  • Press the X box button on the controller or console to turn it on. Press the “TV AUDIO” button on the Denon Audio Remote.

You can play any games that are already installed, any from Game Pass, or the provided physical games that are on the shelf in the game room.

The Xbox also acts as a 4k Blueray player. I recommend watching Dune or Mad Max Fury Road to really show off the system.

  • Above the tv you’ll notice a little sensor poking out. That is used to adjust a backlight on the tv. It will change colors depending on what’s on the tv. These will be guest - controllable in a future update with provided control tablets.

  • The security cameras are displayed on the Tv to the Right. They only watch the streets and driveway and there are no cameras located anywhere else inside or outside the property. We respect your privacy! We can set up additional cameras inside or somewhere in particular if you would like to keep an eye on your belongings, kids, or pets.

Primary Bedroom

  • The bed is a split King by Layla Sleep. Both the head and feet of the bed can be moved independently of each other and each side. One controller moves one side and the other the opposite. There are also three separate massage/ vibration sections.

  • The humidifier will help moisten the air and can also add a pine scent. Add one to two drops if you would like. It takes about half a bottle of water to fill it up. If you use more it will overflow. Use the filtered water from the spout in the kitchen sink. To turn in on and control it press the text on the front. Light - Mist.

  • The 55” LG Curved OLED is able to play 3D movies. Insert the movie you would like to watch into the Xbox and it should start to play automatically. If not select the Blueray/ Movie app and it will open the Blueray menu. Put on the provided 3D glassed and enjoy one of the best 3D movie-watching experiences you can see!

  • On each side of the bed are Nest speakers. They will respond to “Hey Google” or “Ok google” and then you can ask it to set an alarm or play music. Or say “What can you do?” And it will advise you of it’s functions. There are switches on the back that will turn off the microphone. It only listens for “Hey Google” and is not recording anything else.

  • The lights on either side of the bed have touch-sensitive controls on their base. The button to the far left turns them on and off. The middle two control the brightness. The one to the far right changes the color.

They can be tricky to press so try holding your finger on them longer if you’re having trouble.

  • Extra towels, robes, and blankets are stored here. The towels that are striped are for the jacuzzi. You can wear the robes to lounge around in or to stay warm going in and out of the jacuzzi. Please rinse off beforehand (and after) to help keep the jacuzzi clean.

Pillows are very subjective so we provide over 10 different types to choose from.

Everything stored here is cleaned and sanitized so if you use anything please leave them on the bed when you leave so I know which to clean.

Game Room

This room can be customized to be a bedroom, VR room, or an office to work remotely. Before you check in we will have you fill out a form where you can select the softness level of the bed, and configure how you would like the rest of the room to be. Feel free to play any of the games or movies located on the storage shelf. If you’re going to work remotely let us know and we can provide a curved monitor.

  • The Queen sized Murphy bed can be lowered by opening the two side pieces, they have medal handles about halfway down the sides. Flip those out. Push the curtains to the left side and away from the bed when lowering it. Pull the handle down and when it’s about halfway pull the medal rod/ legs down and to the ground before lowering the bed all the way. Reverse the process to put it back up.

Use extra pillows or cushions from the couch to act as a headboard if you want.

  • Quest 2 VR headsets are provided for you to experience. They should be charged/ charging and sanitized. The power button is located on the side and the volume is on the bottom. If they are not on, hold the power button for about 2 seconds.

You can play any installed game. If you want to play with a friend, Beat Saber, Mini Golf, and a zombie game are installed on each headset so you can play together at the same time.

  • This tv is controlled by the LG remote. Press the home button to select from the various media apps.

The tv in this room is also capable of 3D which can be experienced by connecting an Xbox. Do the same to play together with someone playing in the Livingroom or Primary Bedroom.

Before you check in you can choose to have these features set up for you.

  • Under the TV is a wall-mounted desk. If it is in it’s down position simply pull it up until you hear it lock into place. If it is up and you want to put it down to have extra room for VR then pull it slightly up with one hand and then pull each of the support springs a little so they stay out of the way when lowering it.

Bathroom

The bathroom is pretty standard except for the misting shower head and bidet. Instructions and advice can be found below.

  • This showerhead can take some getting used to but it’s a unique experience. It is height adjustable so push it up or down to change the height.

I recommend turning the dial almost all the way to the hottest setting and then lowering the temperature from there as it seems cooler than a regular shower head.

Pull the knob on the bath spout to put it in shower mode.

The handheld piece will turn on by a little switch on the handle. It can be hard to get it to move so push firmly.

  • If you’ve never used one before now is the time to graduate from the stone age! Once you go bidet you don’t go back. There is a guide to all the features located behind the trash can if you want to experiment with all the settings. If you want to make it simple press the A button and it will do it all automatically. You may want to still adjust the pressure and “Rear - Front” setting if it feels uncomfortable or is not hitting the right spot.

  • Inside the medicine cabinet are sunscreens and other things you may use. In the shower are body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. A first aid kit, hair drier, straightener, and other types of soaps are under the sink and drawers.

On the cart in the corner are other things you can use such as cleaning supplies.

Kitchen

The kitchen has most everything you could want for cooking. Feel free to use anything you find, be it food, oil, spices, condiments, waters etc.

Pots and pans are on either side of the stove in the bottom cabinets. Cooking utensils are on the left side drawer of the stove. Junk drawer to the right. Plates in the upper right-hand side cabinets. Cups, wine glasses, shot glasses etc are on the far right upper cabiner. Silverware below that in the drawer. Spices are above the stove and under the microwave. There is a toaster, blender, and electronic wine opener on the kitchenette area by the microwave.

  • Make sure there is enough water, fill from the filtered water from the sink. Press the power button to turn it on. Open the handle by lifting it up and then put in a provided pod. They are located in the storage thing its resting on. There are little drawers with various coffee flavors and teas.

After you lower the handle the buttons will light up to select the size. Press which one you want and it will start making the coffee. Remember to take out the old pod and replace it with a new one each time. Sugar, honey, extra pods, and things like that are located in the cabinet above it.

  • On the sink to the right of the faucet is a super - filtered water system. Use it to refill your water bottle, coffee maker, ice maker, humidifier or anything else that you want to filter water for.

Please note that it has a reservoir that needs to be refilled so it isn’t unlimited. It will refill itself and there may be a gurgling noise as it does.

  • The ice maker will automatically make ice when it runs out. Use the plastic cup/ spoon to crush up the ice. If it runs out of water refill it with the filtered water, the smaller faucet on the sink. If it’s not working turn it off and on again. For quicker and thinner ice press the (-) button, for larger and thicker ice press the (+) button. 3 is a good general setting. If you want more ice than it holds you can put the ice in a storage container in the freezer and let it make more.

  • The refrigerator is a Samsung Bespoke series. We just got it and still need to hook up the water to it so until then then the ice maker and filtered water aren’t functional, however the there is still the ice maker and purified water. Anything in the fridge or freezer is free for you to use and is sanitized for each new guest.

  • If you are wondering how to open the trash can just stand or wave in front of it. New bags are located behind it. Lift the bottom part to take the bag out.

  • There is a Samsung vacuum next to the fridge if you want to use it. Put it back as it was to recharge it. The tip can be changed by pressing a button to release what it currently attached and then put on the one you want or to use it to reach in more compact spaces. To empty the trap there is a button on the front. It can be difficult to put back on so notice how it aligns when taking it off to make it easier to put back on. To empty the trap there is a tall white thing next to the trash can that you can put the cylindrical trap into that will empty it for you.

  • There is a smart air filter that will automatically adjust to clean the air. The color on it indicates the air quality. Blue, Yellow, Red - it will increase it’s strength accordingly.

Outside!

There are a few things to do once you’re outside the cabin. These are seasonal and we are always adding new features.

  • On the front deck are two hanging chairs. If you would like to take them down there are clips attaching them to the upper part.

  • There is a modular couch on the front deck to use. You can move them around if you want to adjust to your particular use case.

  • There are two egg chairs (hanging chairs with their own base) in the backyard, a bench/ storage container. These are really unique and fun to sit in, day or night.

  • We use bromine instead of chlorine and the chemicals are tested and adjusted before each new guest. It’s emptied and refilled regularly. The jacuzzi can be opened by lifting each side. Its temperature ranges from 80-104. There are three buttons on the control panel that shows the current temp.

Jets: Turns the high pressure jets on and off.

Temp: There is only one button so to select the temp you want the jacuzzi to reach press the button until it shows that temp. Typically you want it to be at 100-102 and it takes about an hour to get it from 80 to 100 so plan accordingly. There are waterproof pillows to use next to it, and a towel/ robe rack.

Please rinse off before getting in to help keep it clean. Use the provided robes to go in and out and stay warm.

When you are not going to be using it anymore please set it back to 80 to save heating costs.

  • Beside the jacuzzi is a gate with a place that leads to a platform. There are bar height chairs, a firepit that doubles as a table, a 15’ umbrella, and a 7’ bean bag. During the day you can put the umbrella up and enjoy a meal, drink, or just hang out. At night you can get a expansive view of the night sky.

    Fire Pit:

The instructions for the fire pit are on the side. Turn the gas tank all the way on by opening up the side. Turn and press the dial in while also pressing the ignition button to lite it.

Umbrella: Un Velcro the tie down and then turn the handle until the umbrella is high enough to push the medal rod into the hole at the top to keep it up. Reverse the process to take it down. Please lower it if it’s windy. Feel free to move things around or ask and I can change the configuration for you. The umbrella doesn’t block the view of the sky as it is.

The bean bag will either be covered with a tarp. There will be a clean blanket already covering the bean bag you can lay on. Bring out an additional blanket and pillows to stay and enjoy!

  • There is an additional new fire pit in the back yard. Remove the door on the side and turn the gas tank all the way on. Then follow the directions to lite it on the other side. Press the ignition switch while turning and pressing down the dial.

  • There is an umbrella in the backyard to use during the day. Remove the cover, Undo the velcro strap, squeeze the handle and lift it all the way until it stop. Then turn the other handle to open the umbrella. There is a foot petal to move it from side to side. You can move things around to adjust to the sun or ask me to come and move it to any configuration you want.

  • If the moon chairs (Round folding chairs) are not already set up they will be inside the bench in the upper level of the backyard. You can use them as additional seating in the back yard, as seats for the observation deck, or feel free to fold them up and take them to the lake or on a hike etc.
