Scariest ‘Drive’ Ever

Feb 17 2020

This was the video I remembered watching. It just had some pics and didn’t really explain how difficult the road was. Some of it was washed out and it was DARK.

So we wanted to go test out some new camera equipment. We randomly turned off on a dirt road in fawnskin and kept going and going. It had just snowed so the roads were kinda muddy. I kinda recognized where we were and remembered watching a video on youtube about the road we just happened to be on and realized it should actually go all the way down the mountain and into Apple Valley. Fast forward about 5 hours - we got some excellent footage but the surprise trip ended up being one of the most terrifying experiences of either of our lives. I guess we have lived pretty - boring lives - but neither of us had ever been off-roading and we were ready to break down, get stuck, or find a place in the road we wouldn’t be able to keep going and have to turn back around.

I wouldn’t recommend it to fellow noobs, but it is just a small glimpse of the available off-road trails that Big Bear has to offer. You can actually rent Jeeps and go off on an authentic adventure. For people who are used to doing this - there are roads with various difficulty levels. Good luck!
